Zenith bank warns customers to verify agents before cash transactions
Zenith bank has issued a public notice to warn its teeming customers about the danger in releasing cash to unauthorized banking agents, saying it will not be responsible for such transactions.
The bank advises customers not to give cash to any agent banking representative in the course of opening an account on the streets, markets, schools and other public places. The bank says that cash deposits into new or existing accounts should be made at Zenith bank branches or at verified agent banking locations.
Customers are enjoined to simply complete the account opening process with authorized agent banking representative who approaches them, however, to avoid fraud, customers should visit any of their branches and verified agent banking locations to make cash deposits.
The bank warns that not all agents are authorized or verified and so, it is important for customers to ascertain the authenticity of an agent’s operation before transacting with them.
The bank further informs unsuspecting customers that it will not accept liability for any loses which may stem from giving cash to unauthorized agents or persons.
